By volunteering for our befriending service, you can make a positive difference to the life of an isolated elderly person living in our community. All we ask is that you are available for up to 2 hours a week to visit an elderly person in their home to share a cup of tea and a chat and maybe a trip out. All our volunteers receive training and support, and are matched carefully with their client. Over time, we hope you will develop a good friendship with each other, and whilst your visits can vastly improve their lives and well-being, we believe befriending will be mutually enriching for you also. For further information on our befriending service please contact us on: 01322 431765 where we will be happy to help.

Evergreen wouldn’t be able to function without the volunteers who work behind the scenes supporting us with our administration and accounting needs. If administration is more your area of expertise, and you have a knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, accounting or payroll and would like to donate some time to our rapidly growing Charity, please get in touch. We are always looking for volunteers to join our friendly group of office staff. For further information on joining our admin team, please contact us on: 01322 431765 where we will be happy to help.

Listed below are a few fundraising suggestions. If you have any other ideas then please let us know!
- Hold a coffee morning/afternoon for friends and family. Tempt them along by baking some lovely home-made cakes and ask for donations.
- Once the weather improves, organise a BBQ and invite your friends.
- Do something daring – get people to sponsor you to do a sky-dive or make a trip on a balloon, climb up Kilimanjaro (or even Mount Snowdon!).
- If you like running or long-distance walking, do a sponsored run or trek for Evergreen Care Bexley.
- Ask your church or other social group to consider a collection.
- Hold a quiz night.
All the money you raise will help us care for vulnerable and lonely older people in the Borough.

Changed or deteriorating circumstances sometimes prevent a struggling adult from managing and improving their home situation without supportive and non-judgemental help. The Clean Team work to reinstate cleanliness and order, restoring a sanitary and dignified environment for the client. If you would be interested in being part of a friendly team of people who don’t mind rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in, then this volunteering role could be for you. The Clean Team jobs can vary from a simple one day spring clean of a person’s home prior to the commencement of our Home Support Service, to a longer more involved clean up where a person’s home may have deteriorated into a squalid state. The work can be hard, but can be so rewarding when you see an elderly person return to their clean home and the joy and surprise this brings them. Interested? For further information on joining our Clean Team, please contact us on: 01322 431765 where we will be happy to help.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with the events we hold throughout the year. These could include manning information tables at local events or within supermarkets, or helping with our Vintage Afternoon Teas or other concerts and events. If you enjoy talking to people, are good at organising and have a good sense of fun and would like to help promote the work of Evergreen Care Bexley, then this volunteering role could be for you. For further information on joining our Events Team, please contact us on: 01322 431765 where we will be happy to help.

Becoming an Ambassador is another way you can help promote the work of Evergreen Care Bexley, There are two types of Ambassadors:
Church Ambassadors – As a Christian organisation, it’s very important to us to have the support of Churches within the Bexley Borough. After all, we wouldn’t be where we are today without the assistance of our Churches. Our Church Ambassadors represent Evergreen Care Bexley in their individual fellowships by ensuring there are leaflets on our services available and information on how people can support our Charity. They would also be responsible for ensuring some information on Evergreen Care Bexley is included in their church magazine, and, if possible, arrange for a representatives of Evergreen to visit your church to give a talk on our work or join your prayer times, and also to encourage their congregations to remember us in their prayers.
Civic Ambassadors – You will be working in the community ensuring leaflets and information are available at local libraries, GP surgeries, hospitals, clubs etc, and by building relationships and support for Evergreen Care Bexley within your local communities.
Evergreen Care is a Christian organisation with the teachings of Jesus at its heart. As such, we always appreciate support in the form of prayer, and have a dedicated prayer team lead by Jill Grant, our prayer coordinator. We welcome the opportunity to visit churches from across the borough to join in with their prayer times, and also hold a weekly prayer meeting in our offices every Friday between 1pm-2pm. We also have regular contact with the prayer coordinators in our partner organisations in Stamford and Sleaford and regularly hold their needs up in prayer. If you would like to become a part of our prayer support, or would like to join us for prayer on a Friday, then please get in touch on 01322 431765.
